Road Safety Infrastructure Programs

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport is delivering:

• critical road safety upgrades
• improvements on remote, regional and urban roads around South Australia.

Road Safety Program

The Australian and South Australian governments are funding $168 million for the Road Safety Program. The joint funding arrangement is a 50:50 split over two years (2023–2024 to 2024–2025).

In April 2024, the program began a series of safety treatments across our regional roads. Regions include the Yorke Peninsula, Murraylands, Mid North, Eyre Peninsula and Fleurieu Peninsula.

$37 million has been allocated to improve footpaths and cycleways. This includes funding for new and upgraded Bicycle and Pedestrian Actuated (push button) Crossings.

Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety Package

The Department is also delivering the Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety Package. The package aims to upgrade some of the Adelaide Hills's key strategic arterial roads.

This $150 million initiative is funded by the Australian and South Australian governments at an 80:20 split over five years. It aims to implement a series of improvements in the Adelaide Hills area.
