South Australia’s Road Safety Action Plan 2025–2027 – now available

Monday, 6 January 2025

South Australia’s Road Safety Action Plan 2025–2027 aims to reduce lives lost and serious injuries on our roads.

It sets out actions to achieve 10-year targets of reducing lives lost by 50% and serious injuries by 30% by 2031. This is in line with the Road Safety Strategy to 2031 and the National Road Safety Action Plan 2023–2025.

The document includes key new initiatives, including:

  • applying a time-based speed limit on high-priority arterial roads close to schools
  • increasing community awareness and understanding of road rules
  • developing a THINK! Road Safety Community Grants Program.

Programs that influence behaviour change are a priority, and include:

  • delivering a Way2Go bicycle program to promote safer travel for primary school students
  • delivering On the Right Track, an Aboriginal road safety and driver licensing program.

Engaging the community is critical to reducing lives lost on our roads. By working together, we can make lasting improvements and create safer roads for all.
